On May 5, 2016, President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People with Bob Iger, Vice Chair of the US-China Business Council (USCBC) and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company of the US.

Xi Jinping pointed out that at present, the overall China-US relations maintain a sound momentum of development. When attending the Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in Washington D.C. this March, President Barack Obama and I reached important consensus on further promoting the construction of a new model of China-US major-country relationship. With highly integrated interests, there are extensive areas that China and the US should cooperate and can cooperate. China-US cooperation could achieve some great things. The two sides should bear the big picture in mind, safeguard and expand common interests, and deepen practical cooperation. China appreciates the USCBC, the Walt Disney Company as well as other enterprises for their positive efforts to boost China-US relations for a long time.

Xi Jinping stressed that the Chinese people are endeavoring to realize the "two centenary" goals. China is striving to advance economic structural reform and continuously improving the level of the open economy. China will provide convenience for foreign businesses, institutions and individuals to have exchanges and cooperation with China. China-US economic and trade cooperation is an important component of bilateral relations and the two countries, with strong economic complementarity, enjoy great potential and broad prospect for such cooperation. China is in favor of reaching a bilateral investment agreement through negotiations at an early date.

Bob Iger expressed that in the world today, it is rather important for the US and China to conduct close cooperation, especially in economy and trade. The US supports an early bilateral investment agreement through negotiations, which will help businesses in both countries to expand cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and benefit. The Walt Disney Company attaches great importance to promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries. The Shanghai Disney Resort, which will open soon, will work to offer safe, quality and pleasant services to the Chinese visitors.

Vice Premier Wang Yang and others attended the meeting.
