In the past few years, mil-to-mil relations underwent difficult times, with occasional contacts and exchanges. From 2022 to 2023, China delivered military aid worth of 130 million RMB to the Philippines. In September 2022,Chinese experts conducted operation training on China-aid military equipment for AFP in Manila. From June 14 to 17, 2023, the PLAN training ship "Qi Jiguang" made a goodwill port visit to Manila.
