Premier Zhu Rongji Met with Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister (13/04/2002)

On April 13, 2002, Premier Zhu Rongji met with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam, who came to attend the first annual conference of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), at Boao, Hainan Province.

Zhu welcomed Nguyen Manh Cam for his second visit to Hainan and his attendance at the first annual meeting of the forum.  He said the relations between China and Vietnam have maintained good momentum under the guidance of the principles of long-term stability, facing the future, good-neighborliness and friendship, and all-round cooperation reached by Genearl Secretary Jiang Zemin of the Communist Party of China and General Secretary Nong Duc Manh of the Communist Party of Vietnam. President Jiang's visit to Vietnam earlier this year has made a great success. The leaders of the two countries have maintained frequent contacts, and the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields have been stepped up. China is willing to work together with Vietnam to jointly push forward Sino-Vietnamese ties in the new century.

Nguyen said the Vietnamese side believes that the establishment and growth of the Boao Forum for Asia conform to the development trend of the world. Vietnam will give active support to the development of the forum. Nguyan said the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese government attach great importance to the development of relations with China, and will make further endeavor to broaden the cooperation between the two countries in various fields to achieve more productive results.

The two sides also exchanged views on a few key joint projects in trade and economy.
