The institute's researches cover various fields related to the South China Sea, and include:(1) Geography for the South China Sea;(2)History and sovereignty for the South China Sea islands;(3) the South China Sea policies, military and diplomatic conflicts of countries around the South China Sea; (4)The impact of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the development of the South China Sea issue;(5)Geopolitics for the South China Sea;(6) Development and preservation of the South China Sea resources;(7)Environ- mental protection for the South China Sea.
