On March 18, a forum on China's Anti-Secession Law was hosted by the Filipino-Chinese Amity Club Inc. in Manila. Over 100 representatives from more than 40 major Filipino- Chinese associations attended the event.

Ambassador Wu Hongbo was invited and delivered a message to the forum. In his message, Ambassador Wu pointed out that the law will strengthen ties across the Taiwan Straits, safeguard state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and curb secessionist activities for 'Taiwan independence'.

Professor Huang You, a specialist on Taiwan issue, elaborated on cross-Straits relations and the separatist activities in Taiwan, which escalated tensions and made it necessary for the enactment of such a law.

The participants all expressed their strong support of the Law. They believed that the Law, providing a legal basis for peaceful reunification of the country, is in the fundamental interests of all the Chinese people.
