On April 18, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met the press together with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of Russia and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj of India after attending the 14th China-Russia-India Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Moscow.

Wang Yi said that located in the Eurasian continent, China, Russia and India enjoy geographical proximity and connected territories. Accounting for over 40 percent of global population, all the three countries are major emerging markets at their key historical stage of economic development and national rejuvenation. The establishment of China-Russia-India cooperation mechanism conforms to the general trend of world multi-polarization and democratization in international relations, meets the three countries' needs for joint cooperation and common development and accords with overall interests of the three countries, the region and even the world at large. Over the past dozen years, with the joint efforts made by the three countries, China, Russia and India have continuously consolidated their cooperation momentum, expanded their cooperation fields and improved their cooperation mechanisms.

Wang Yi said that in the spirit of openness, unity, mutual understanding and trust, and in accordance with the current international situation, the three foreign ministers held a sound discussion on international and regional issues of common concern and practical cooperation of the three countries, reaching a number of important consensus. It was an efficient, practical and successful meeting. They agreed that the three countries should maintain the cooperation momentum and strengthen cooperation in three important aspects.

First, enhance world multi-polarization and democratization in international relations. The three countries believe that under the current situation, the international community should continue to adhere to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the UN, and support the UN in continuously playing the core role in international affairs. People's independent choices in domestic affairs of each country should be respected, international problems should be dealt with by all countries collectively, and regional disputes should be settled peacefully through political means.

Second, promote the improvement of global economic governance and cooperation among emerging markets. The three countries proposed to raise the voice and representativeness of developing countries in global economic and financial governance, and they are willing to actively implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on tackling climate changes. Russia and India support China in hosting the G20 Summit in 2016, and China and Russia support India in hosting this year's BRICS Summit. It is believed that both Summits will yield fruitful results and leave profound historical remarks in the development course of these two mechanisms.

Third, expand the practical cooperation among the three countries in various fields. Development is a common task faced by China, Russia as well as India. The three countries have their own advantages and are complementary to one another, leaving extensive areas for cooperation. The three countries agree to continuously facilitate communication and cooperation in such areas as politics, economy and trade, security and people-to-people and cultural exchanges and explore more practical cooperation projects so as to achieve a greater picture of mutual benefit and win-win results.

Wang Yi said that China attaches great importance to the China-Russia-India cooperation mechanism, and is willing to work together with Russia and India to further well safeguard, utilize and develop the mechanism, enhance its perspectiveness, comprehensiveness and pragmatism, and promote its role in international affairs. He has full confidence in the prospect of the China-Russia-India cooperation mechanism.
