Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia Meets with Wang Yi

On April 22, 2016, Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia met at the Office of the Prime Minister in Phnom Penh with Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Hun Sen asked Wang Yi to convey his warm greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. Hun Sen expressed that the friendly cause between Cambodia and China is a precious political heritage of King Father Norodom Sihanouk. Cambodia and China enjoy a long-term and profound friendship. Hun Sen will lead the Cambodian government to inherit King Father's legacy, carry forward the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen strategic coordination, and adhere to mutual support, so as to promote Cambodia-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to obtain new and greater development.

Wang Yi conveyed best wishes from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Prime Minister Hun Sen. Wang Yi expressed that on the basis of inheriting traditional friendship, China and Cambodia have strengthened political mutual trust, and demonstrated mutual understanding and support, becoming good friends bearing utter devotion and good partners sharing weal and woe. China stands ready to work with Cambodia to earnestly implement the consensus reached by the two leaders, and deepen comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, so as to provide greater assistance for respective development and bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples. China is willing to work with the Cambodian side to maintain the tradition of high-level exchanges, guide the development of bilateral relations, and discuss the signing of the intergovernmental cooperation documents of jointly constructing the Belt and Road, so as to further deepen and consolidate the practical cooperation. The two countries should strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs to jointly safeguard peace and stability in the region.
