Wang Yi Meets with Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz of Pakistan

On April 27, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz of Pakistan, who was in China to attend the 5th Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Wang Yi expressed that the China-Pakistan relations have maintained a strong development momentum. Important consensus reached by both leaders is being gradually implemented and bilateral practical cooperation, with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as the center, is smoothly advancing. China is willing to make concerted efforts with Pakistan and take the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations as an opportunity in order to constantly consolidate and promote China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.

Sartaj Aziz noted that the Pakistani side stands ready to make joint efforts with China to earnestly carry out consensus reached by both leaders, ensure the safe and smooth progress of major construction projects in Pakistan-China Economic Corridor and expand friendly exchanges and cooperation in various areas between both countries to boost Pakistan-China friendly cooperative relations to a new high.

Wang Yi introduced the latest progress of the South China Sea issue and China’s principles and stance on the issue. Sartaj Aziz said that the Pakistani side fully understands and supports China’s stance and practice on the South China Sea issue. Both sides also exchanged views on the Afghan issue and other regional and international topics of common interest.
