On December 14, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of Abu Dhabi Emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the Great Hall of the People.
Xi Jinping pointed out that currently the level of China-UAE relationship is constantly rising, opening up a new pattern featuring comprehensive, practical, efficient and rapid development. China regards the UAE as a good friend and good partner in the Gulf region, and is willing to elevate the level of strategic partnership with the UAE so as to break a new ground for China-UAE friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Xi Jinping stressed that China is willing to conduct closer exchanges and cooperation in various fields and at different levels with the UAE. The two sides should strengthen practical cooperation under the framework of co-building the "Belt and Road", so as to realize mutual benefits, win-win results and common development. China is willing to speed up docking of policies and projects with the UAE to push bilateral industrial cooperation in fields like energy, infrastructure construction, trade and investment and aerospace for new achievements. It is believed that the establishment of the China-UAE Joint Investment Fund is bound to play a critical role in deepening bilateral practical cooperation, which will stand out as a new highlight of China-UAE cooperation. China stands ready to work together with the UAE to build the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) into a platform for infrastructure investment and financing with mutual benefits and win-win results, so as to promote regional connectivity and economic development. China is willing to actively explore with the UAE to launch third-party cooperation in Africa. China and the UAE should strengthen security cooperation as well as maintain close communication and coordination in major international and regional affairs.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan expressed that China is a great country and plays a crucial part in the international community. The UAE is devoted to deepening its strategic partnership with China, expanding investment in China and strengthening cooperation in infrastructure construction, renewable energy, aerospace, science and technology and others, actively supports and participates in the building of the "Belt and Road", and is also willing to play a positive role in building the AIIB and discuss with China the launching of third-party cooperation in Africa. The UAE is ready to work closely with China in security cooperation and strengthen communication and coordination in international and the Middle East affairs.
The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation between China and the Gulf countries.
After the meeting, Xi Jinping and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan jointly witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Establishing China-UAE Investment Cooperation Fund (Limited Partnership).
