On March 12, 2005, the Association of Chinese Education of Metro Manila held its annual session in Century Park Hotel. Over 300 representatives from more than 40 schools and leaders of major Pilipino-Chinese Associations attended the event.

Ambassador Wu Hongbo delivered a speech and declared the setting up of the Chinese Embassy Fund for Chinese Education. In his speech, Ambassador Wu expressed his appreciation of the hard work the members of the Association had done in promoting Chinese language and culture, and hoped that the special fund will encourage Chinese language education in the local community and entail more contributions to Chinese language teaching in the Philippines.
