On May 13, Jing Quan, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, was invited to speak in front of Asia Society Philippines.
Addressing the event, the ambassador highlighted specifically recent efforts and progress made by both sides in three areas namely: restarting political dialogue, expanding people-to-people exchanges, and deepening economic and trade cooperation. The envoy stressed the need to build more positive momentum to support the stable development of bilateral ties.
At the same time, the ambassador said both countries should properly manage three major challenges affecting their relations: maritime disputes, transnational crime, and negative public opinion, in order to preserve the overall atmosphere of China-Philippines relations.
The envoy also engaged in in-depth discussions with participants on issues including joint oil and gas development in the South China Sea, cooperation on artificial intelligence, cultural exchanges, and efforts to counter disinformation.
