On July 30, Ambassador Jing Quan attended the premiere of Dear You at SM MOA IMAX. More than 400 guests were present, including Philippine government officials, foreign diplomats accredited to the Philippines, senior executives of the film’s distributor Pioneer Films and SM Group, as well as Chinese and Philippine media representatives and members of the Chinese-Filipino community.

Jing noted that China-Philippines exchanges span over a thousand years, and that the world’s oldest Chinatown is located in Manila. He said that the Chinese-Filipino community has long been an important force in the economic and social development of the Philippines. The film Dear You tells a touching story of ordinary Chinese people’s deep attachment to their homeland, as well as their commitment to trust and righteousness. The family affection, responsibility and perseverance embodied in the film resonate with the experiences and emotions of overseas Filipino workers. He expressed the hope that the audience would gain a deeper understanding of the fine qualities of the Chinese nation through the film and better understand China.
