In April 2002, Philippine secretary of defense Reyes paid visit toChina. In September 2002, Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian visited thePhilippines.  In 2004, Zhang Li, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Liberation Army (PLA) paid visit to thePhilippines. In 2004, Narciso Abaya, Chief of Staff of Philippine armed forces and Secretary of defense Avelino Cruz paid visits to China respectively.
