As part of continued efforts to foster China-Philippines interaction in terms of culture and arts, a marvelous fest, co-organized by Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and the Philippines’ National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), was presented at the Chinese Cultural Courier @ the Philippines in Manila on October 4.

A total of around 500 people were in attendance, including Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines HUANG Xilian, Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation Inc. chairperson Pamela Louise MANALO, NCCA Executive Director Oscar G. Casaysay, and other representatives from local governmental authorities, businesses and Chinese diaspora communities, etc.

At the event, Chinese and Filipino performers pitched in with passion on one stage, and showcased each other’s cultural distinctness and excellence in various forms. Going with cheerful songs and melodies, a fashion show of traditional costumes made a surprising splash, just like a vibrant tapestry highlighting Chinese and Filipino styles. And there followed a novel medley of Chinese classic operas-Peking opera and Kunqu opera, which, through a perfect combination of singing, dancing, acting and martial arts, etc., riveted all attention and won a warm ovation from the audience, providing Filipinos a closer look at and firsthand experience of Chinese traditional performing arts.
