On December 16, 2015, President Xi Jinping met in Wuzhen of Zhejiang Province with President Mamnoon Hussain of Pakistan.

Xi Jinping pointed out that since the beginning of this year, China and Pakistan have been keeping close high-level exchanges with constant deepening of practical cooperation in all areas. This April, I paid a state visit to Pakistan, during which both sides decided to elevate the bilateral relations into an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and determined the “1+4”cooperation pattern with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as the center and Gwadar port, energy, transportation infrastructure and industrial cooperation as focuses, mapping out the strategic layout for the development of China-Pakistan relations in the next stage. We are willing to make concerted efforts with the Pakistani side to continuously enrich and deepen the connotation of China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership so as to translate China-Pakistan friendship into more driving force of deepening and expanding practical cooperation.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Pakistan should maintain the tradition of high-level exchanges and encourage both governments, legislative bodies, political parties and militaries to conduct counterpart communication. Both sides should earnestly build the early-harvest projects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, carry out industrial cooperation, release the potential of the corridor, drive the economic and social development of countries along the route and bring benefits to the general public. The two countries should also deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and draw a sound plan for the celebration marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations next year. Security cooperation should also be strengthened so that China and Pakistan can maintain close coordination and communication in international and regional affairs to safeguard the common interests of both countries.

Mamnoon Hussain noted that this year is the Year of Pakistan-China Friendly Exchanges and next year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. The Pakistani side is satisfied with the development of Pakistan-China relations and appreciates China’s support in Pakistan’s economic growth and livelihood improvement. Bilateral cooperation in economy and trade, infrastructure, security and other fields is advancing steadily and the construction of Pakistan-China Economic Corridor is yielding gratifying results. Pakistan is willing to expand cooperation with China in all areas and keep closer communication and coordination in international and regional affairs.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended the meeting.
