On the evening of January 8, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held telephone talks at request with Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se of the Republic of Korea(ROK), mainly exchanging views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Wang Yi expressed that the nuclear issue on the Koran Peninsula has undergone twists and turns, while the principles China always upholds are realizing denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, safeguarding peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and solving the issue through dialogues. The three principles are correlative and integral. Wang Yi reaffirmed China's long-term stance against nuclear test of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) and said that China will keep communication with the ROK to deal with the current complex situation and meanwhile firmly promote an early resumption of the negotiations on the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
